35-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
35-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF BRAD-CHEM LTD
Brad-Chem Ltd celebrates its 35-year anniversary, this year. Since March 1988, we have grown and evolved from our beginnings as a distributor for Ciba-Geigy (now BASF) to the UK market. Presently, we manufacture Corrosion Inhibitors, speciality lubricant Additive packages, and solid lubricant dispersions. Furthermore, we now export our products worldwide.
In March 1988, Arthur Brady incorporated Brad-Chem Ltd., initially to distribute Ciba-Geigy lubricant additives to the UK market. Subsequently, we acquired Susgra, a solid lubricant dispersions manufacturer. As a result of this acquisition, we started to develop and manufacture our own products. Additionally, we started to distribute molybdenum disulphide, molybdic oxide and molybdates for Climax Molybdenum.
As we increased our in-house R&D capabilities, we began to develop multi-metal corrosion inhibitors for water based applications. Indeed today, we continue to focus most of our product development on corrosion inhibitors for neutral-alkaline, and acid systems. However, we also develop and manufacture lubricant additive packages for speciality applications. We offer lubricant additives packages for incidental food contact, EU Ecolabel, marine EAL, and all kinds of chain lubricants.
In the present day, the Brady family still owns and runs Brad-Chem Ltd.
35 YEARS OF GROWTH AND INNOVATION
During our 35-year anniversary, we look back over three-and-a-half decades of growth and adaptation. In contrast to our early years, we now manufacture, as well as distribute products. Furthermore, we also export to more than 35 countries, worldwide and we increase our export market regions and sales each year. We now distribute for four principals, whose product ranges complement our own. Additionally, we target a 1:1 split between own manufacture and distribution, to ensure sustainable business continuity.
We develop and manufacture multi-metal corrosion inhibitors for water, water/glycol, mineral and organic acids, solvents, oils and fuels. We also manufacture lubricant additives and packages for speciality applications (food grade, Ecolabel/marine EAL). Typically, we develop additive packages for applications that require synthetic or natural base oils, as opposed to mineral oil. However, we provide complete solutions to the whole market; because, we distribute for principals whose product ranges complement our own.
We now distribute synthetic ester base oils for Nyco, and polyisobutylenes (PIBs) for Kemat BV. Therefore, we offer NSF H1 approved and EU Ecolabel approved synthetic base oils. Similarly, we offer NSF HX-1 approved, and EU Ecolabel/marine EAL compliant lubricant additive packages. Consequently, lubricant manufacturers can blend our additive packages into our principals’ base oils to make finished compressor, gear, hydraulic, or chain oils.
Brad-Chem does not manufacture additive packages for automotive engine, gear oils, or automatic transmission fluids. Instead, we offer additive packages and VI improvers/viscosity modifiers from our principal BRB International BV. In this way, we service the requirements both the automotive and speciality industrial lubricant blenders.
THE FUTURE
On this, our 35-year anniversary, we look forward to many more years of future growth and innovation. Due to recent technological advances, and increasingly tighter chemical regulations, we face many new challenges. Additionally, we prioritize ensuring sustainability as one of our key objectives for the future of Brad-Chem Ltd. We will continue to work with customers, suppliers and principals to achieve significant growth and sustainable technical innovation.
As part of our growth strategy, we are expanding our network of distributors into new regions. As a result of this expansion, we expect to be able to offer local representation and warehousing in most geographical regions by the end of the first quarter of 2024. We are also expanding our UK and overseas customer base in the regions in which we are currently active.
We are developing our sustainability action plan. Formerly, we have always endeavoured to develop and supply very effective products with the best possible environmental and human health profiles. We also ensure that we work with trusted suppliers who provide equitable and safe working conditions for their employees. Certainly, we will continue to maintain this model. In addition, we will work with our suppliers to ensure that our supply chain is as socially and environmentally beneficial as possible. We will ensure that any new suppliers also share these values.
