Liquid Copper Passivators
What Are Copper Passivators
Copper passivators inhibit corrosion of copper, brass, and yellow metals by rendering the metal surface less reactive. Due to their mechanism of action, they belong to the family of metal deactivators. In general, copper passivators contain the azole functional group and a planar aromatic ring in their molecular structure. Most are solid at room temperature, with low water or oil solubility.
What Are The Advantages Of Liquid Copper Passivators?
The advantages of liquid copper passivators are: Much easier to blend, Better solution stability ,Optimised treat rates and performance Non-dusting.
Uses In Water Or Water Glycol
Metalworking fluids manufacturers, heat transfer fluids manufacturers, and metal finishers use copper passivators to prevent copper and yellow metals corrosion. Many formulators experience difficulties with solid passivators, due to their low water solubility. Brad-Chem have developed Brad-Chem 536highly water soluble liquid triazole copper passivator.
This product allows manufacturers to easily produce water soluble products that are effective and stable even at high concentrations. This product can be used in metalworking fluids, as a tank side post treatment, or in industrial cleaning and preventive maintenance applications. While metalworking fluids and cleaning customers favour Brad-Chem 536, water treatment formulators use Brad-Chem 537 to protect copper, brass and yellow metals. Brad-Chem 537 is an excellent choice for water treatment for industrial cooling systems.
Uses in Lubricating Oils
Lubricating oil blenders generally use oil soluble corrosion inhibitors at much lower treat rates than those that are used in water based applications. Moreover, since lubricant manufacturers utilise a range of additive types, it is important to ensure that the corrosion inhibitors do not adversely compete with other additives. We offer our unique range of speciality corrosion inhibitors for mineral oil and synthetic lubricants. Furthermore, we include multi-metal corrosion inhibitors as well as a liquid copper passivator and in our range for oil and synthetic lubricants.
However, to ensure that additives do not adversely compete with each other in use, we also offer full additive packages. We optimise the treat rates of all of the components in our full additive packages to ensure that they meet the relevant application specifications. Consequently, lubricant blenders are able to simply blend our easy-to-handle liquid additive packages into their base oils in order to produce finished lubricants with the correct EPAW, antioxidant and anti-corrosion performances.
